Dr. Devini Ameratunga is a dedicated and caring Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist. She is completing the final six months of her Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI). This is the highest level of sub-specialty training in fertility, leading to her becoming a Board-certified Fertility Specialist. Once she has completed her Fellowship, she will be one of only five Board-certified Fertility Specialists, and the first female in QLD who has been accepted to both CREI and Surgical (Laparoscopic) Fellowships.

Dr. Ameratunga brings with her contemporary knowledge and extensive experience in all aspects of general and complex fertility care, including pregnancy loss, assisted reproduction, ovulation induction, and fertility preservation. Her gynaecological interests encompass PCOS, minimally invasive surgery/laparoscopy and pelvic pathology (including fibroids and endometriosis). She treats hormonal conditions accross the female reproductive age, from teenagers to post-menopause.

Graduating with first-class Honours from the Australian National University in 2007, Dr. Ameratunga commenced Specialty training at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. She earned her Masters in Reproductive Medicine at NSW University (with excellence) and completed a Fellowship year in Advanced Laparoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery in 2014 at the Gold Coast University Hospital. Shortly thereafter, she began private practice. Dr. Ameratunga holds a public Staff Specialist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she actively trains junior doctors and conducts research in fertility and gynaecology. She is the Clinical Lead for Fertility Preservation within the Public System.

Her commitment to women’s health and ongoing education is evident through numerous publications, presentations, and her role as a Senior Lecturer for The University of QLD. She is a reviewer for esteemed journals such as the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics (JARG) and the Australia New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ANZJOG), and also trains GP’s for the Royal Australian and NZ College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Dr. Ameratunga’s special areas of interest encompass general and complex fertility care, fertility preservation, endometriosis, PCOS, menopause, and minimally-invasive surgery aimed at reducing pain and enhancing recovery time.
